Become an “FÖJler” at BEF

The Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) is an educational year that offers young people between the age of 16 and 27 the opportunity to make a difference by working in environmental protection. By working at an environmental protection organisation and participating in five seminars alongside all of the other volunteers in Hamburg, you will gain a lot of expertise about sustainability issues. The FÖJ is the perfect opportunity to acquire professional skills and work experience.

Baltic Environmental Forum has been a recognized assignment location since 2020.
We offer three different placements in the fields of “climate and mobility”, ”chemicals and consumer protection”, and public relations. New FÖJ-placements begin every year on the 1st of August.

You can submit an application via the „FÖJ Portal“ of the  „Hamburger Umweltbehörde“ www.hamburg.de/foej/ at the start of each year.

What do the FÖJler do at BEF?
As an FÖJler you get a deep insight into diverse projects and the various activities that project work entails. This includes public relations work by doing research, interviews and surveys, as well as social media communications – an important part of our work at BEF is the environmental education.
Alongside office work, the preparation and participation in events such as the “Hamburger Klimawoche” brings variety into the workday. Furthermore, new ideas and suggestions are always very welcome.

We are looking forward to interested and motivated applicants!
