Become a „Bufdi“ at BEF

The Bundesfreiwilligendienst (Bufdi) is offered by the German government to people of all ages as a chance to contribute to the common good – in social, ecological and cultural sectors or in the fields of sports, integration, and civil-protection.

The Baltic Environmental Forum has been a recognized assignment location since 2020, and offers a versatile placement in the field of environmental protection, sustainability, and consumer behaviour.

For those who are interested in gaining a deep insight into the work of an environmental protection organisation and want to actively contribute to its work, choosing BEF as a host organisation is the right decision.

Interested applicants can apply via the Bundesfreiwilligendienst website at any time:
www.bundesfreiwilligendienst.de

Important! The start and end dates of the placement are handled on an individual basis and there are no application deadlines.

What do Bufdis do at BEF?
At BEF, the activities of the volunteers are incredibly varied, but the work centres on public relations and environmental education. Alongside work in the office, one of many tasks for the Bufdi is preparing and participating in events such as the „Hamburger Klimawoche“. In the context of one of our projects, „AhaChem“, the Bufdi is going to take part in seminars about the use and reduction of hazardous substances in daily life and raise awareness about the topic.
Since we address our message to individuals and big companies alike, research about sustainable procurement targets is part of the Bufdi’s activities, as well as the implementation of sustainability targets.
What makes the work at BEF special is the cooperation with international partners.

In interaction with our FÖJ-placements, within which we want to give young people an insight into the work of an environmental protection organisation, we would be glad to have someone as a Bufdi who already has some work experience, whether in the environmental field or not. However, some environmental knowledge is still a requirement.

We are looking forward to interested and motivated applicants!
