LIFE AskREACH – Recognising chemicals in everyday life

LIFE AskREACH

LIFE AskREACH helps consumers apply their right to know about the use of substances of very high concern in consumer products.

There are thousands of substances used in the manufacture of everyday goods. Although many of them are not a cause for concern, there are still some that have a negative impact on our health or the environment.

LIFE AskREACH aims to increase the demand for articles without SVHCs. To do this, the project will raise awareness among consumers and remind them of their right to know. It will also facilitate communication between them and companies.

To make information on substances of very high concern more easily available, the project organisations involved will develop a database and a Europe-wide smartphone app that consumers can use to scan barcodes of articles. If no data is available for a specific item, they can send an automatically generated request to the supplier.
