A hairdressing workshop on „hazardous substances“ for practicing hairdressers takes place on Monday, the 11th of February 2019.
Hairdressers have a lot of contact with harmful chemicals, e. g. as ingredients in dyes, hair shampoos or make-up. For this reason, it is important to clarify and find good alternatives to prevent allergies or other skin diseases – and to protect the environment. The workshop will be carried out by our Danish partner Johan Galster. He developed the concept „Green Salon“ in Scandinavia which, meanwhile, developed into a network of hairdressers who have voluntarily committed not to use cosmetics or treatments containing particularly harmful chemicals.
The salons are inspected annually and certified with an environmental label. Johan Galster has found a way to make the topic „hazardous substances“ more understandable for people of all professions and abilities. In doing so, he takes the approach of „Hit the Worst First“
which means he starts change with a first focus only on the worst chemicals.
For the first time, he comes to Hamburg to explain about hazardous chemicals in the hairdressing sector and to develop joint solutions with the participants. In addition, it is also possible to become part of the „Green Salon“ network.
If you are a hairdresser and interested in this workshop, write an e-mail to fee.widderich[at]bef-de[dot]org stating the first and last name, address and telephone number.
