The project mobile2020 aims at to support and promote cycling in small and medium sized cities up to 350.000 inhabitants in Central and Eastern Europe. These cities have a much lower share of cyclists compared to what would be possible if cycling would be consequently promoted and infrastructure would be upgraded. Mobile2020 wants to address exactly these towns through seminars, study visits and give them first assistance on their way to a higher share of cyclists. The events will be carried out by trained multipliers of Atgaja (LT) and the BEF and REC network. The multipliers are supported by Dutch and German experts as well as by the cities of Odense (DK), Västerås (SE), Linköping (SE), Groningen (NL) and Bozen (IT).

In parallel, national working groups on cycling will be set up in the Central and East European target countries. They shall offer the possibility to exchange experience and expertise after the end of the project and will be a contact partner for ideas and questions.

Competitions and a multitude of other activities that will be all about the cycling will offer the cities and towns the opportunity to present themselves as active and bike-friendly municipalities and to raise the awareness of the citizens.
