Industry
English description
Even if the issue of industry and environmental protection is no key element of the work of the Baltic Environmental Forum, it plays a central role on the way to a healthier environment. Industrial companies are a potential source of environmental problems and rather often it needs good convincing skills that environmental costs should not externalised and that win-win solutions are possible. Apart from that, it is of course indispensable that binding legal standards on national and international level are met by the companies.
Our work in this field is motivated by the fact, that a lack of communication within companies was noticed in the past. Furthermore, the compliance with environmental legislation within the supply chain was found deficient. In several branched, environmental problems were encountered, for example when treating waste or using chemicals. Information deficits of employees and difficulties in introducing an environmental management system lead to the insufficient compliance with environmental legal regulations.
